A real celebration awaits you in Turrialba

  • Cuisine, artisan products, agricultural products and tourism offerings are part of the first edition of the Turrialba Tourism Festival
  • Entrance is free of cost and there will be draws for tours and lodging, among others

The first edition of the Turrialba Tourism Fesitval is a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of this canton, while sampling good food, purchasing products from local artisans and learning more about the region’s tourist attractions, all in a single place, in a festive and family-friendly environment.

The activity, organized by the Turrialba Chamber of Tourism, will take place on Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11 in CATIE, where different producers and businesspeople from the region will offer the best they have to offer to win over visitors.

During the two days of the fair, attendees can enjoy the wonderful artisan products from the region, including jewelry, painting, traditional masks, hand-made bags and wooden sculptures, as well as delicious traditional food, including cheese tortillas, rice & beans, cajetas and home-made ice cream.

This is also an ideal opportunity to learn more about the spaces and attractions around Turrialba, with special prices and unique offers for those who visit the festival. You can find out about rafting on the Río Pacuare, mountain bike tours, visits to the CATIE botanical gardens, information on National Parks and Archaeological Sites, and private reserves for hikes and birdwatching, such as La Marta and Espino Blanco.

“We have created a space to share the different attractions in Turrialba, while also ensuring that it is a place for the entire family. We invite you to support the efforts of artisans, small producers and businesspeople who want to show you all of the beauties of our canton”, said Shirley Bermúdez of the Turrialba Chamber of Tourism.

From 9:00 a.m. until nighttime, visitors can experience traditional games, concerts, circus activities, hikes and good food, all of which are part of the agenda that has been prepared to win over Costa Ricans to visit this canton of Cartago Province. You can also enjoy the CirConexion Circus, with acts that include fire, machetes, classic juggling, daredevil performances, tightrope, unicycles, clowns and much more.

Admission is free, and parking is available for cars at ₡2,000 and motorcycles at ₡1,000. There will be bus service on the Transaro line from downtown Turrialba to CATIE. You can visit the Visite Turrialba page for more information.
